An independent and warm elderly couple is looking for a caring and reliable nighttime companion to provide evening support and peace of mind in their large countryside home. The couple enjoys a good quality of life and is mostly self-sufficient, with a trusted housekeeper managing domestic tasks and meal preparation during the day. Now, they are looking for someone who can offer presence and support during the evening and nighttime hours.

Responsibilities:

• Nighttime Coverage: From 6 p.m. to 10 a.m., Friday through Wednesday. Ensure presence by sleeping in the home during the evenings to assist with any unforeseen needs or emergencies, such as minor falls or assistance with health-related concerns.
• Light Dinner Preparation: Prepare and serve a simple dinner, with occasional support in the kitchen if required.
• Medication Assistance: Help the couple follow their prescribed medication schedule, ensuring consistency. Only one of them takes one medication daily.
• Small Tasks: Support with occasional online shopping or other minor requests to facilitate daily life.
• Environment: Provide a warm, calm presence while respecting the couple’s independence and personal preferences. It is essential to understand that the couple may have some initial reservations about receiving home assistance.

Schedule & Accommodation:

• Work Hours: 6 p.m. to 10 a.m., Friday evening through Wednesday morning, with full days off from Wednesday morning to Friday evening. During workdays, there is ample downtime between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. when the daytime housekeeper arrives, allowing the companion a completely free period to run personal errands or relax. The candidate may choose to stay in the home or leave during these free hours as well as their days off.
• Accommodation: The companion will have a private, comfortable bedroom with an en-suite bathroom to ensure privacy and comfort.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

A driver is preferred; a valid driver’s license and own car are ideal due to limited public transport options.

This role is best suited for a gentle, patient, and reliable individual with prior experience in a caregiving or similar role, able to foster a calm and supportive environment. Candidates with a sensitivity to the couple’s initial resistance to help, who demonstrate understanding and empathy, are particularly suited for this position. No personal care is required, as the couple is independent; instead, the primary role is providing a reassuring presence at night for added peace of mind.
