Location: Madrid, Spain (approx. 6 months per year) + international travel (North America & other global destinations)

Salary: Up to €150,000 gross per year (c. $180,000 gross prer year) following a 1-month paid trial period paid at €8,000–€10,000 gross ($9,000-$11,000).

Schedule:

Full flexibility required with a 24/7 mindset

Principal typically active from mid-afternoon (c.3pm) through evening, though Principal lives a tranquil night and mostly entertains guests at home (no clubbing or late late nights)

Occasional morning duties for the Principal’s wife (with prior notice)

Overview

An international UHNW A-list household is seeking a highly experienced, traditionally trained Butler to support a formal private household serving primarily one male Principal, with occasional attention to his wife.

This is a long-term, trust-based role for a career Butler with proven experience in comparable UHNW or high-profile environments. The household values discretion, hierarchy, restraint, and impeccable standards. This is not a hospitality or hosting role.

The successful candidate will travel with the Principal extensively and act as a constant, discreet presence during daily life, meetings, dining, and international stays.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing formal personal Butler service to the male Principal at all times

• Maintaining strict professional boundaries and traditional etiquette

• Liaising closely with the Principal’s team and Head of Security and following established security protocols

• Ensuring restaurants, venues, and environments meet the Principal’s preferences and standards

• Coordinating discreetly with Personal Assistants and other senior staff as required

• Accompanying the Principal during all travel, meetings, dining, and engagements

• Handling light logistical support, including moving heavy luggage (wardrobe and packing handled by PAs)

• Managing refined food & beverage support when required, including wine handling and preparation (F&B and wine knowledge necessary)

• Anticipating needs while remaining unobtrusive and precise

• Diligent with note-taking and documentation, maintaining concise daily logs of relevant movements and activities to ensure continuity and accountability across the wider team

• Financially savvy with a strong sense of responsibility when managing or influencing household expenses to avoid overspending

Household Style & Expectations

• Traditionally formal household. The role requires impeccable discretion, clear professional boundaries, and a strong understanding of hierarchy and etiquette at UHNW level

• Dress code: Traditional Butler attire (black suit, white shirt, bow tie)

• Previous placements have failed due to poor boundaries; discretion and judgment are essential

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Senior Butler in UHNW or similarly formal private households (essential)

• Verifiable references in comparable roles

• Fluent English and Spanish

• Strong understanding of formality, hierarchy, and discretion

• Wine knowledge essential; F&B training/experience and connections to wine merchants a plus

• Physically fit (some lifting required)

• Calm, elegant, emotionally intelligent, and grounded

• Able to travel at short notice with minimal personal constraints. Someone with low personal attachments. Flexibility to travel is essential with no excuses.

Accommodation & Travel

• Madrid:

  • Live-out if locally based

  • Hotel accommodation provided if relocating

   

• International travel:

  • Butler stays in the same hotel or private residence as the Principal with their own independent room

  • All travel, accommodation, and professional expenses fully covered

  • All travel is conducted via private jet and private transport. The Butler accompanies the Principal always
