Schedule:

  • 5–6 days per week, including weekends
  • Likely schedule: Saturday–Wednesday or Saturday–Thursday
  • Another chef will cover days off
  • Only not working when the family is travelling

Overview

A UHNW family based in Manhattan is seeking an exceptional long-term Private Chef to support a household of two adults, three young children, and two live-in nannies. Extended family members visit regularly, with a maximum of around 5 adults in the household at any one time.

This is a newly created role following recent changes within the family. The Principals are looking for a chef who is warm, intuitive, and welcoming, while maintaining clear professional boundaries at all times with family members, guests, and other staff.

The ideal candidate is confident running a private kitchen independently and enjoys building a rhythm and flow that works naturally for the household.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing and serving daily meals for the family and nannies, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner

  • Breakfast primarily for children; lunch varies between served meals and grab-and-go options

  • Dinner served most days for the entire family

  • Cooking mostly family-style meals, with the ability to deliver three-course dinners when required

  • Creating a weekly menu and presenting it to the Principal every Wednesday, adjusting based on preferences. Final menu approved by Thursday.

  • Managing the full kitchen process end-to-end: menu planning, grocery shopping, preparation, service, and clean-up

  • Maintaining an immaculate, professional kitchen at all times, including upon end of shift.

  • Adapting style and flow in collaboration with the Principal as the household settles into a new routine

  • No food allergies or intolerances, except one child allergic to kiwi 🥝

  • Family enjoys a wide range of cuisines and values variety and options

  • Emphasis on healthy, well-balanced meals required; Nutritional knowledge is a strong plus

  • Warm, family-oriented atmosphere with clear professional boundaries

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Private Chef in UHNW or private household settings (essential)

  • Independent, confident, and self-directed; able to work without supervision

  • Intuitive and observant, with the ability to anticipate preferences and adapt accordingly

  • Professional, discreet, calm, and well-organised

  • Comfortable managing a newly created role and shaping kitchen systems from scratch

  • Flexible to work weekends and varying schedules

  • Strong communication skills, knowing when to ask questions and when to act independently
